This fantastic mushroom sprouted from a tree trunk in Palo Alto, California and the leaf had fallen on it as though perfectly placed! The red maple leaf shows the comparative size of this curly golden mushroom that was the size of a dinner plate charger.

Hiked to the top in Yosemite Valley, California, where I found this beautiful petrified wood tree trunk on otherwise barren granite. I loved the contrasting colors of the wood against the cloudy blue sky and the view of the snow covered Sierra mountains beyond.
